Andrew Peterson, DMD MS DABP DABOI/ID DICOI

Dr. Peterson is a skilled periodontal surgeon at Arcadia Perio in Arcadia, California, dedicated to providing advanced periodontal care. A Montana native, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Carroll College in Helena, Montana, in 2009. He followed his dream of becoming a dentist and obtained his dental degree and specialization in periodontics from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland in 2013 and 2017. After beginning his career practicing in the greater Portland area, Dr. Peterson transitioned to an academic role in 2019 as an adjunct professor at Loma Linda University in the School of Graduate Periodontics, where he collaborated with esteemed colleagues, including Dr. J. Paul Fuentes. Through this partnership, Dr. Peterson leaned on Dr. Fuentes’s experiences, leadership, and mentorship, which helped him become the periodontist he is today, fostering a lasting friendship and professional partnership. Ultimately, Dr. Peterson transitioned from academics back to full-time private practice, where he is significantly impacting patient care.

As a board-certified periodontist (DABP), a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and Implant Dentistry (DABOI/ID), and a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (DICOI), Dr. Peterson possesses extensive expertise in various periodontal regenerative therapies and implantology.

He is a certified LANAP® (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) clinician and has further distinguished himself by becoming a LANAP certified instructor through the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry. Dr. Peterson has a passion for education, frequently lecturing and sharing his knowledge with peers to advance the field of periodontics. Additionally, he is particularly interested in digital implant dentistry workflows and X-NAV guided implant placement, which allows for enhanced precision in surgical procedures.

Dr. Peterson is also actively involved in several professional affiliations, including the Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Academy of Osseointegration (AO), International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), The American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID), The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD), American Board of Periodontology (ABP), American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), and the Tri-County Dental Association.

Dr. Peterson enjoys golfing and exploring new golf courses in his spare time, including renowned destinations like Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines. He also takes pleasure in hiking and biking, embracing the beauty of what California has to offer. As a single dad to his 7-year-old son, Luke, Dr. Peterson loves being a father and teaching his son about the world around them. He often finds himself in humorous situations, like the time Luke insisted that they should only eat cereal for dinner because “it has all the food groups: crunchy, sweet, and marshmallow!” Seven-year-olds have a unique way of seeing the world, and their candid observations often lead to the funniest moments. From their imaginative logic to unexpected questions, Luke keeps Dr. Peterson on his toes and fills their adventures with laughter, reminding him that superheroes can’t be late for dinner!

J. Paul Fuentes, DDS, DABP

Dr. Fuentes is a highly accomplished periodontal specialist with over four decades of experience. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry in 1981 and completed a certificate in periodontics at Loma Linda School of Dentistry in 1988.

Dr. Fuentes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantologists. He also teaches at Loma Linda School of Dentistry and is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association.
